Gangaur is a festival celebrated in the Indian state of
Rajasthan and some parts of Gujarat, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Telangana.
It is the celebration of spring, harvest and marital fidelity. Gangaur Puja or
Gangaur Teej is the festival that celebrates and worships Lord Shiva and
Goddess Parvati. Gangaur festival marks the beginning of the 16-day fasting to
please the Gods and Goddesses. The ladies decorate their hands and feet by
drawing designs with Mehndi, Newly-wedded girls observes the full course of 18
days of the festival that succeeds her marriage.
